HOLLYWOOD – Britney Spears' various quick marriage and divorce ceremonies seem to have started a trend in glamour-land.
"Angelina Jolie married three times last year," says celebrity-expert Josh Abraham, seated in his office at Hollywood Boulevard. "She was beaten by a small margin by Jennifer Lopez, who managed to go through nine different men in 2003. Five of her ex-husbands are now married again, two already in another divorce of their own."
Hollywood is known to have the highest divorce rate in the country. On average, A-list film stars are married for 2.3 months.
Harrison Ford, who not long ago finalized his own divorce from his wife of 18 years, tells FakeToday: "Kids today just don't know how to take a marriage down the long road. A divorce should be well-planned, not something done in haste. A marriage is a bond between two people that should last at least 10, 15 years."
Mr. Abraham studied celebrity behavior in the past. He concludes "you're either famous, or in a healthy relationship. Not both. And you better not be stupid and get one of those tattoos like Billy Bob [Thornton] did." (Billy had to replace "Angelina" with "Angel".)
He adds "These days, it's 'Do you want to marry me, and then have a divorce?' You wanna have security, know there's an end to it."
Britney Spears (who is just settling for her sixth marriage with one of her co-performers, calling it a "major fling") likens marriage to a number one hit song; "the more the merrier."
We asked her what she likes about getting married. "Oh, it's just so much fun, the whole tradition attached to it. The head-rush when you say yes, baby. The earth moves. Of course the first time's the best time, and then there's the part when you divorce. But you're like, 'OK, I gotta move on, this is life.'"
