Rock Star Dies Before First Album

Outside John's apartment

SEATTLE – Yesterday the corpse of John Cottoro, rockstar-to-be, was found in his Seattle apartment. Police said his death was not believed to be suspicious and a post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow.

Friends and family are shocked and released a letter to the press today, mourning the death of their loved one. John Cottoro, age 24, overdosed on unknown substance last week and was found lying dead in his apartment yesterday afternoon. The tragic incident overshadows John buying an electric guitar a month ago to celebrate his 10 year anniversary of him wanting to become a rock star.

"It all started out when he was 14. He saw the other rock 'n' roll bands on TV and in live shows, and knew he was gonna be part of this world when he was grown up," the letter reads.

John, who called himself "a working class man on a mission from God," was about to learn to play guitar this coming winter. "He was really obsessed," his former girlfriend Susan told the press, "though he couldn't play music yet, [he was sure] one day he would be one of them, one of the best. We are devastated to lose this future artist so early on in his career, which didn't even start yet."

John's parents (who live next door and until this day paid their son's rent) released a set of family pictures. In it we can see John playing air guitar, or John listening to his favorite idols. The photos also show another side of this lonely, introvert man – a wild, energetic and mysterious side. We see a flaming genius about to explode.

Seattle music journalist Selpin Regalds agrees he "could have started a revolution [in music] if only he lived long enough. And," Selpin adds, "the first album is always the best, so we missed out on a classic, because he never got around to make it."

Among the sadness, angry voices can be heard – still, Selpin asks people to be considerate in this dark hour. "We now find people saying drugs and rock 'n' roll don't belong together. But just don't forget John became what he almost was because he was living on the wild side."
